Elon’s Big Bet on Robotaxi! Yay or Nay?

Hello Bestie,

I know things haven’t been so easy lately for everyone but I hope you’re still living your best soft-life dreams! 😎

*Clears throat*

You know, weekends are for chilling, but since you didn’t send me any Suya to snack on, I had to drag myself here to give you the latest gist! 😏 No worries, I’m still gonna give you the best gist—because I’m just that generous! 😉

Speaking of generosity, Have you ever gifted anyone some stocks before?

I guess you haven’t done that before!

Well, think of that one person who always saves the day and say a big “thank you” to them with their fave stock on the Trove app, using the stock gifting feature!

The Return of the Legend

Mtn Dew’s identity crisis is OVER! 🤣 Our favourite drink has chosen to reclaim its full name, (it’s tired of being addressed by its “a.k.a”! 🤣🤣)

After two decades of chilling as “Mtn Dew,” they’re finally bringing the “Mountain” back to stay with the “Dew”.

So, yeah! Mountain Dew is getting a makeover – Its cans are getting a whole new look too, ditching that sharp-edged font for something more country-fresh. Why now, you ask? Well, let’s just say Dew’s been struggling to keep up with the energy drink crowd lately. 😬

Umi Patel, VP of consumer insights and analytics at PepsiCo Beverages, said the company carried out extensive research with its fans to make itself “more approachable.” He said the nostalgic look of its new visual package tested well with Generation Z and millennial consumers as well as fans of the brightly-colored drink.

The new look will be rolled out beginning of May next year, So get ready for it!

Boeing, Giving High-Flyer’s Vibes! ✈

So, our good friends over at Boeing have been busy doing what they do best—delivering airplanes like it’s nobody’s business! They dropped their third-quarter numbers for 2024, and let me tell you, they’re looking pretty fly. 🤩

The airline company delivered a total of 116 commercial airplanes in Q3 alone! (I mean, somebody needs to get them a gold star or something😁😁) Their 737 programme was on fire with 92 deliveries, bringing their total to 229 planes for the year so far – Omo! see levels!!!!!!

Not just that, the 787 Dreamliner is also doing its thing with 14 deliveries this quarter, proving once again that it’s the MVP of long-haul flights.

Meanwhile, they also handed over four 777s and six 767s to customers—keeping everyone from passengers to cargo carriers happy. In total, Boeing’s got 291 commercial deliveries under their belt for the year, and let’s just say, they’re not slowing down any time soon!

Boeing is set to release its full third-quarter financial results on October 23, but from the looks of things, Boeing’s not playing around.

TD Bank, in Some Serious Wahala 😬

TD Bank just made history… the kind no bank wants to be part of!

They’re now the largest bank in U.S. history to plead guilty to violating a federal law meant to curb money laundering. As a result, they will be paying a whopping $3 BILLION in penalties. Yes, you read that right! Billion, with a “B”!

Apparently, they ignored some major red flags from high-risk customers and basically rolled out the red carpet for some shady deals. Imagine that! (In Tomi’s most dramatic voice.)

Word on the street is that TD Bank was running a “convenient” setup that made life a little too easy for bad actors to do their thing. The government’s been on their case for a while now, pointing out these “pervasive issues” that the bank seemed to brush under the carpet. Hmm, acting like they didn’t see a thing, huh?

Now they are gonna bear the consequences. And guess what? It’s not just the fine, TD Bank’s also facing some pretty strict restrictions on its business operations. They’ve been hit with an asset cap, which means their hustle’s been seriously checked. No more “business as usual” for them.

Tesla’s got Big Dreams!!!

Tesla’s stock dropped by 9% on Friday after Elon Musk’s big robotaxi event. Yep, the hype was real, but the execution? Meh. Investors were not exactly jumping out of their seats, more like side-eyeing the whole thing.

So, apparently, the investors were looking for more “wow” but they got more “hmmm” instead.

Investors: 👇🏻

Musk pulled up for the event with the new Tesla Cybercab, a sleek, silver, low-riding two-seater that’s got no steering wheel or pedals—yes, you heard me right. It’s literally giving sci-fi movie vibes. Like a magician with one more trick, Elon also showed off a robovan that can carry 20 people.

The whole event went down at the “We, Robot” show ( but seriously, Elon, who comes up with these names?! 😂), where Tesla talked up their big dreams of building fleets of autonomous vehicles and robots. The plan? To get the Cybercab rolling out before 2027. But surprise, surprise—Elon didn’t spill the beans on where these futuristic rides will actually be built but he did say the price tag should come in at under $30,000!

Well, guess I have to just put that on my vision board real quick! 😏

And It’s a wrappppp!
