Looks like Netflix is back… for good? or is the company just extra confident?
Netflix has reversed a lot of the losses that plagued the share price this year (down from ~60%) and is now positioned for even greater heights, given its new advertising streaming option. The streaming giant is predicting that it’d pick up 4.5million customers in the final quarter of this year. Will that be you?? Coming this November, Netflix will be launching a $7/month plan with advertising to attract cost-conscious customers.
Y’all don’t need to share Netflix passwords ‘no more.’
This past quarter, Netflix added 2.4million subscribers, more than double the street’s expectations. Netflix now has a total of 223.1 million subscribers around the world. Co-CEO Reed Hastings is excited that the company will continue gathering momentum by focusing on content, marketing and a lower-priced plan with advertising.

STAY THE COURSE
The entire market sentiment over the course of the year has been less than ideal – to be honest. The S&P 500 is down ~22% this year, but we have room to believe that ‘we will not be down forever.’ A bull market is before us.
Over the decades, it’s been extremely rare to find back to back years of the markets down 20%. You’d literally have to go back to the 1930s to find two consecutive years of down 20%. So #Hope?
Also note that the S&P has always historically been up. The S&P is up 3 out of every 4 years. Since the 1920s, the S&P has been up year on year, 72% of the time, and 56% of the time, it’s been up by ~10% year on year.
Given all the uncertainties around inflation & recession sentiments, who knows what would happen in the short term, as the year winds down?
However, in the meantime, for your investment strategy: Focus on High Quality Stocks, Buy Value Stocks (~11 times the PE ratio) & Just Stay The Course.
FIRES HERSELF
As promised, your ever reliable Tomi From Trove is back with a continuation of the UK drama. This time, its even worse (or worser?) – UK Prime Minister Liz Truss has resigned due to failed budget and market turmoil. whew!
Madam Truss was in office for just 44 days, which makes her the shortest-serving prime minister in British history. For 10 of the 44 days of her premiership government, business was paused following the death of Queen Elizabeth II… so she technically served for 34 days (~1 month)
Couldn’t be easy!
The market reacted (albeit positively) as pound gained strength against the dollar (up by 0.6%), trading at $1.128 – as if to bid Liz farewell
. The currency now remains at the level it was on Sept. 22, before Truss’ market-moving budget.
